What is my ESF Password?
A Student's ESF Password is the password that they use to
gain access to the ESF
Student Services Portal. This password is not necessarily
the same as your SU NetID password (used to access services at SU and ESF
like email or to log into public/lab PCs at ESF), but we encourage
you to set it so that it is the same. This way, you will have one
username and password to access all of your information at both ESF
and SU..
Changing your ESF Password on the Student Services Portal page:
There are 2 ways to change your ESF password on the ESF Student Services Portal:
- If you already know your current ESF password: Log
into the portal by entering your NetID and current ESF password. You
must Log on to the system before you can click on the
'Change password' link and you may be required to confirm your
personal contact information. When you click on the Change password link,
you will be asked to enter and then confirm your new password
choice. You must wait up to 15 minutes for the password change to be
available throughout all ESF information systems.
- If you do NOT know your current ESF password: Go to
the ESF Student
Services Portal and click the 'Reset or change your password
here' link. Enter your SU email address (NetID@syr.edu)
and the password that you wish to use. Click the Request
Password Change button. At this point, check your SU email for a
message from ESF and confirm your password change by clicking
the link in the body of the message. You must wait up to 15
minutes for the password change to be available throughout all
ESF information systems.
ESF Student Default Password:
If you have never checked your records at the ESF Student Services
Portal Web site, then your password has not yet been set and a
default password has been assigned to you. Your default password is
8 digits long. The first 4 digits are the last four digits of your
Social Security Number (SSN). The next 2 digits are the month that
you were born, and the last 2 digits are the day of the month that
you were born. If a student was born on April 1 and has a SSN of
123-45-6789, then their default password is: 67890401. The first
time you use the default password on the above Web site, you are
forced to change it. The password that you set after logging-on with
your default password is the one that you will use to log on to the
Records System. The change takes place system-wide 10 -15 minutes after you
set your password on the Student Service Portal Web site.
You essentially activate your ESF password by following the default
password procedure described above.
If you have never visited the ESF
Student Services Portal (myESF) before: You should
visit this Web page and log-on
with your SU NetID and standard
default ESF password before
attempting to use any of the information systems on the ESF Campus
Network.
Continuing Education Students at ESF:
Continuing Education or non-degree Students taking classes at ESF
have a password that is initially 8 digits long as in the case of
degree ESF students. The first 4 digits are the last four digits of
your Social Security Number (SSN). The next 2 digits are the month that
you were born, and the last 2 digits are the day of the month that
you were born. If a student was born on April 1 and has a SSN of
123-45-6789, then their default password is: 67890401. You can
change your password on the Web page mentioned above (http://myESF.esf.edu)
by logging on to the Web page and clicking the 'Change Password'
link. Please allow up to 15 minutes for passwords changed on this
Web page to take effect.
