Symantec Endpoint Protection (Symantec Antivirus
11 Maintenance Release 2) Installation:
This software on this page is intended for
Windows-based
PCs that connect to the ESF Campus Network. The new Maintenance
Release 2 version of Symantec Endpoint Protection is intended to
solve issues that have been reported to CNS with the original
release.

Before You begin...
IMPORTANT: Please review the Symantec AntiVirus/Endpoint
Protection
Installation Notes for information important when installing
this new version of Symantec Antivirus.
To install Symantec Endpoint Protection (SAV 11 MR2) for
Windows (Windows 2000
SP3+, Windows XP
SP2+, and Windows Vista
):
 | Click the link below for the version of Symantec Endpoint
Protection you wish to install (Please note the differences between
the 2 versions). |
| Choose 'Run' when asked about what you want to do about
downloading the installation file. |
| Acknowledge any security warnings about the download. |
| Wait for the installation to complete. |
| If asked to perform a 'LiveUpdate,' click the 'Start' button on
the LiveUpdate window to start the process. |
| Reboot your PC if asked. |

| This
version includes: Antivirus and Antispyware. This version is
recommended for PCs purchased more than 2 years ago. |

This
version includes: Antivirus, Antispyware, Proactive Network
Protection, and Firewall. This version is recommended for PCs
that were purchased within the past 2 years. |

NOTE: By clicking
on the links above, you are agreeing to remove this software
from personally owned equipment when that equipment is no longer
being used on the ESF Campus Network or the EvergreenX wireless
network. |
To install Symantec Antivirus 9 (SAV 9) for
Windows (Windows 98, Windows Me, and Windows NT) AND on
older, less capable PCs running Windows 2000 and XP:
| Click on the
link provided below. |
| Acknowledge the
Security Alert (Note: you may not receive this alert). |
| Completely fill
in the provided form and click the 'Continue' button. |
| Acknowledge the
Security Alert (Note: you may not receive this alert). |
| Click 'Yes' to run the Symantec Installation Program. |
| In the Symantec
Antivirus window that pops up, click the 'Install
Now' button. The installation process will now begin and may take 15 minutes to complete (depending on the speed of your computer,
connection speed, and server load). If the process does not complete
within 15 minutes, please close all windows and restart your PC.

| When the
installation has completed successfully, your PC should restart
automatically. |
| When your
machine restarts, if you are warned about your virus definitions
being out of date, simply double-click on the
shield in your system tray on the task bar.
The update will be automatic. |
